Department of Pharmaceutics
Pharmaceutics is the term related with converting a drug into a medicine (Pharmaceutical dosage form).
Department of Pharmaceutics of College of Pharmacy has been actively involved in improving the theoretical and practical skills of the students at the Diploma, degree, and Post Graduate level.
The subject areas in the department are Pharmaceutics, Hospital and Community Pharmacy, Physical Pharmaceutics, Cosmeticology, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacy Practice, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Product Development, Validation and Documentation which are handled by experienced faculty.
The department is well equipped with sophisticated, Modernised instruments and machinery to cater and fulfill statutory and research requirements of students. The department is equipped with Tablet Punching Machine, All Purpose Unit with All Attachments, Rota-Evaporator, Spray Drier, Dissolution Testing Unit, UV Visible Spectrophotometer, All Glass Water Distillation Unit, Autoclave, Bulk Density apparatus, Tablet Friabilator, Cooling Centrifuge, Stability Chambers, RO Water Unit, Mechanical and Magnetic Stirrers.
The faculties are actively engaged in guiding the PG students in formulation and development of novel drug delivery systems. The thrust areas are Transdermal Drug Delivery Systems and Nanotechnology. The department has three well equipped laboratories managed by trained laboratory Supervisors and technicians.
The department is actively involved in research in the areas of Novel drug delivery systems like Transdermal DDS, Oral transmucosal DDS, Mucoadhesive DDS, Oral sustained release DDS, Colonic DDS, Chrono / targeted DDS, Nasal DDS, Intra ocular DDS and Enhancement of solubility of poorly water soluble drugs.
Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry
The department supports the academic requirements for students pursuing a four year Bachelor of Pharmacy (Semester Pattern), two years Post Graduate (Semester Pattern) and two year Diploma of Pharmacy course (Annual Pattern). The laboratories are equipped with instruments to tagging Post Graduate and research work in the area of synthetic and analytical chemistry.
The faculties of the department have prowess in various areas of research such as synthetic chemistry and analytics. The research interest ranges from projects dealing with QSAR, Bio molecular Simulations, Drug screening, Drug development and Synthesis of compounds of medicinal value and related compounds along with the structure elucidation and characterization. Department has noteworthy academic as well as research facilities with excellent working facilities and equipped with necessary infrastructure to provide practical training on regular basis for degree and diploma students.
Department of Pharmacognosy
The Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, one of the elemental departments of Pharmaceutical Sciences deals with study of drugs derived from plants, animals and mineral sources. The department has university recognized post graduate (Master in Pharmacognosy) and research laboratory with adequate infrastructure.
The faculties of the department have expertise in various areas of phytoceutical research. The departmental research is not only limited to isolation, identification and interpretation of medicinally potential plant candidates with advanced analytical techniques but also deals with development and evaluation of novel drug delivery systems of botanicals for fatal disorders. Department have well equipped phytochemical laboratory with advanced analytical instruments
Paper Publications and Books
Institution encourages faculty to undertake inter departmental research and disseminate the research outcomes in the form of publications. The faculty have been successful in publishing papers in some the reputed national and international journals.
